  • A fundraiser has been launched by regular customers to support staff at Crabcake Factory Bayside after a car crashed into the restaurant on Jan. 4, damaging its kitchen at West Fenwick waterfront (37314 Lighthouse Road). Funds will cover living expenses until it safely reopens.  The MoCo Show
  • Ledo Pizza announced last week that its former president and co-founder Thelma W. Beall died at 101. Born and raised in Maryland, she helped launch the original Adelphi restaurant in 1955 and built a community legacy that endures.  The MoCo Show

BUSINESS NEWS

  • HomMali Thai Dining at 614 Quince Orchard Road will hold a soft opening on Dec. 12–13 and a grand opening on Dec. 14 in the Quince Orchard Plaza; the restaurant promises a contemporary Thai menu featuring signature dishes + hand-crafted cocktails to capture the local flavor.  The MoCo Show
  • On Saturday night, nearly 100 locals waited in the cold outside Josh's Smack Shack at 330 N. Stonestreet Ave. in Rockville to try its viral smashburger.   • MECCA Business Leadership Institute—Montgomery County’s only charter school—is set to refute allegations during the Board of Education work session today in Gaithersburg, as board members plan to vote later this month on a recommendation to revoke its charter due to special education and enrollment concerns.  Montgomery Community Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery County funded over $764K to boost its Food Recovery Network and help local organizations rescue surplus food for residents, building on 15 years of investment to expand capacity and reduce waste.  The MoCo Show

  • Montgomery County native and Clarksburg High School alum Mateen Ibirogba (the top transfer defensive lineman) committed to Texas Tech after a strong season at Wake Forest; he recorded 21 quarterback hurries, three sacks and a forced fumble.  The MoCo Show
  • Montgomery County football fans will see former Quince Orchard players Ayden and Elisha West join the Minnesota Gophers for the 2026 season — the two brothers transferred from Michigan State to boost the team's defensive lineup.  The MoCo Show
