- ➤ Inspire Nail Bar will open its new location this March at North Pointe shopping center at 18251 Flower Hill Way in Gaithersburg as construction nears completion & final touches are underway in the 16,000 sqft retail and restaurant center. The MoCo Show
- ➤ CAVA marks its 15th anniversary by planning celebrations throughout the year and highlighting its journey from a single Bethesda restaurant to a chain with hundreds of locations (its founders include Gaithersburg High School alumni who keep the company connected to Montgomery County). - ➤ Viva Mexico Bar & Grill will replace a former Pizza Hut at 18509 Woodfield Rd in Gaithersburg as it prepares for an upscale opening with authentic Mexican cuisine. - ➤ In 2025, Montgomery County Public Libraries lent over 12 million print and digital items. Top checkouts were The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store and The Demon of Unrest plus the system issued 62,000 new cards across 21 branches. Montgomery Community Media
- ➤ Twelve Maryland restaurants earned spots on Washingtonian’s 2026 Top 100 list — including Gaithersburg’s Inferno Pizzeria Napoletana at 33 — and feature diverse cuisines from Riverdale, Pike & Rose, and Silver Spring. The MoCo Show

- ➤ Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville received a $3,000 donation from DARCARS (supporting its CTE programs) during a school assembly. Montgomery County Public Schools said the contribution will help equip students for future careers. Montgomery Community Media
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ DC Water crews are racing to build a bypass system after a large sewer line collapsed late Monday near Clara Barton Parkway in Montgomery County — the wastewater spill overflowed into the C&O Canal and closed part of I-495 so drivers heading to D.C. should expect delays. WTOP
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Maryland households may check their SNAP benefits for 2026, which are set based on household size and income. One-person households can receive up to $298 while larger households qualify for higher amounts (including housing and childcare deductions). FOX 5
- ➤ Montgomery County’s Ride On bus system recorded over 19 million trips in 2025 after adding new routes, free fares and bus stop upgrades — improvements that benefit Gaithersburg riders as further transit enhancements are planned for 2026. The MoCo Show
- ➤ DC Water crews are building a bypass system to control a sanitary sewer overflow from the Potomac Interceptor that spilled into the C&O Canal National Historical Park near Clara Barton Parkway east of I-495 today, causing lane closures and delays.
