  • Full On Craft Eats & Drink announced that its last day at 4007 Norbeck Road will be Feb. 23 — it will relocate to 5566 Norbeck Road at Rock Creek Village Center with no reopening date set yet after 12 years in its longtime home.  The MoCo Show
  • Flavor Hive, a viral halal fusion brand founded by local star Shihan Chowdhury & partner Amgd Gende, opened its first Maryland restaurant in Rockville at 5568 Randolph Road in the Montrose Shopping Center, taking over the 2,000 sqft space from Shouk and offering walking chips bags filled with halal proteins.  The MoCo Show

CULTURE NEWS

  • In 1993, Arsenio Hall taped his late-night talk show at a Derwood home after the Payton family won a contest with a promise of Maryland crabs. The episode featured Patti LaBelle, Johnny Gill & Bobcat Goldthwait.  The MoCo Show

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montgomery County Public Schools will test an AI weapons detection system pilot at three schools (Wootton may join the program) starting in March. Magruder High will host a virtual PTSA meeting on Feb. 18 and a lunch forum on Feb. 19 to review the pilot.  WTOP
  • Sophomore Leul Dawit from Northwood High & junior Reemey Ghermay from Walter Johnson High were named finalists for Montgomery County’s 49th Student Member of the Board of Education after the Feb. 11 convention at Watkins Mill High. County secondary school students will vote for the candidate on Apr. 22.  The MoCo Show

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery County Department of Transportation conducted a two-day Pothole Blitz on Wednesday and Thursday to repair storm-damaged pavement along 5,400 lane miles—over 125 employees worked on repairs and residents can still report issues by calling 311.  FOX 5
  • Montgomery County launched the FY26 Food Aggregation Grant Program to help small local farms connect with schools, hospitals, and senior centers. The program provides up to $550K in first-year funding and requires experienced aggregators to apply by Feb. 20 (after a Feb. 12 virtual session).  The MoCo Show

  • Montgomery College women's basketball coach Tarlouh Gasque was honored recently for her 300th career win, marking a milestone in a career that started in 2006; she has also served as Athletics Director since 2016 (guiding the program through roster changes and COVID challenges).  Montgomery Community Media
