- ➤ Carmen’s Italian Ice marks 25 years by offering 25% off menu items on the 25th each month and hosting a kickoff event this Wednesday at its Rockville location (Marshall and Ryder get free gelati). The Olney location will open March 8. The MoCo Show
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Young Artists of America announced plans to open a state-of-the-art rehearsal facility at Congressional Plaza along Rockville Pike. The new space by Grimm + Parker will serve YAA students and local artists as part of the nonprofit's Building Dreams Campaign. The MoCo Show
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools’ waiver request was denied after storm closures and an extra school day was added to end the year on June 26. Lawmakers are advancing House Bill 1084 today to let schools meet required instructional hours instead of making up every missed day. The MoCo Show
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County officials said a winter storm dropped up to 6.9 inches of snow and knocked down about 200 trees and wires yesterday. Crews plowed roads and cleared 100 miles of sidewalks while storm parking ended at noon Monday and residents were reminded to clear walkways to avoid refreezing. The MoCo Show

- ➤ Montgomery County is reviewing how it manages trash and recycling and may close the Dickerson incinerator (which burns trash for energy) to meet its zero waste goals. The county will host open houses in Germantown, Rockville and online in early March to gather public input. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Montgomery County Department of Transportation will host a free Upcounty Travel Training Workshop in Germantown to help residents navigate public transit options & learn key routes and schedules. The workshop is set for a future date that will boost commuters’ access to reliable transportation. The MoCo Show
