- ➤ Montgomery County Fire and Rescue reported a gas leak at the Northwood High School construction site on Feb. 26 when a four-inch high-pressure gas line ruptured; police and gas company reps secured the area on University Boulevard and advised nearby residents to shelter in place. FOX 5

- ➤ Fontina Grille reassured diners that it remains open at its King Farm location while planning a move to The Laureate at Westside at Shady Grove this fall. - ➤ Westfield Montgomery announced that California-based Gorjana will open at Bethesda mall this summer. The minimalist jewelry store will offer necklaces, bracelets, rings + earrings for everyday layering. The MoCo Show
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ America250 will bury a time capsule in Philadelphia on July 4 that is set to be opened in 2276. The capsule is built in Gaithersburg by NIST and will hold items like Rose Parade finds and student submissions that show the nation today. WTOP
- ➤ Captain Maryland, a local hero from Montgomery County, declared his county the best in a viral social media interview. The video featuring a bracket-style showdown among counties has sparked local pride and highlighted his deep community ties. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Montgomery Parks will unveil interpretive panels and a listening post at Johnson’s Local Park on Sunday, Mar. 1, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. — the event honors Emory Grove’s legacy founded by African American pioneers and features a 2 p.m. speech with a reception at Upper County Recreation Center.
