COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nonprofit WRAP will offer free Lyft rides for St. Patrick’s Day starting 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 until 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18 to help reduce impaired driving in the region (the code for up to $15 per ride will be posted at 3:00 p.m. on the day).  The MoCo Show

CULTURE NEWS

  • Dobro musician Abbie Gardner will perform at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn on Saturday, Mar. 28 (sponsored event) with a mix of original songs and covers that showcase her unique storytelling. Tickets are available at the venue.  The MoCo Show

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration will begin pavement improvement projects on several roads in Montgomery County early March. Drivers can expect lane closures and off-peak work times from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. — delays may last until mid-summer.  The MoCo Show

HEALTH NEWS

  • WalletHub’s report, released March 2 at 9:10 a.m., shows Maryland ranked 5th for women based on 25-key metrics such as preventive health care and earnings, while also noting a need to improve high school graduation rates.  The MoCo Show

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Today, MCB Real Estate announced plans for a new 162,000 sqft Costco at VIVA White Oak in Montgomery County (near the U.S. FDA and White Oak Medical Center). The warehouse will be the first retail anchor in a $2.8 billion mixed-use project that will include housing, offices, and public infrastructure.  The MoCo Show

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Washington Commanders are rumored to consider signing NFL free agent Arnold Ebiketie — a Montgomery County native who spent four seasons with the Falcons. If a deal is reached, he will return home to strengthen the team's pass rush.  The MoCo Show
  • The Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame will induct its Class of 2026 at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 at the Silver Spring Civic Building. The free event will honor local sports legends such as former Richard Montgomery High School standout Willie Allen and others.  The MoCo Show
