COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring will open on Saturday, Mar. 21 for its 16th season. Families can enjoy treetop climbing trails and zip lines during Spring Break from March 27 — April 6 at Sandy Spring Friends School.  The MoCo Show
  • SNAP recipients must work 80 hours monthly starting March 1, and Manna Food Center is helping local residents understand the rules and available exemptions, which has led to a 10% increase in calls from 6,600 to about 10,000 amid rising food prices.  Montgomery Community Media

BUSINESS NEWS

  • J.Crew Factory will open a new location on Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront at 20 Grand Corner Ave, Suite A (the former Finewine.com space). Signage will be up next week while the opening date remains unconfirmed.  The MoCo Show

CULTURE NEWS

  • Montgomery County Public Libraries will hold the 10th annual MoComCon on March 20 and 21 in Germantown at Germantown Library and BlackRock Center for the Arts. The free, family-friendly event offers panels, cosplay, workshops and interactive art activities – designed for teens, adults and children.  The MoCo Show

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery County awarded $7.5 million to over 50 local companies last year to work on projects in biotech, defense, and clean energy — officials say the grants boost innovation, create skilled tech jobs, and strengthen the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.  The MoCo Show
  • Montgomery County Commission for Women launches its ninth annual Girl Power Contest for Women’s History Month, inviting residents 5 and older to submit creative work by Mar. 31 online. Winners in four categories will be honored in early May with a certificate and swag bag.  The MoCo Show

  • The Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame will induct its Class of 2026 on Sunday, Apr. 26 at the Silver Spring Civic Building — a free ceremony honoring five local legends, including Willie Allen and the record-setting Holy Cross girls team.  Montgomery Community Media
