- ➤ The Kentlands Bar Crawl on April 18 across popular spots in Kentlands (such as Vasilis and Dog Haus) drew over 200 participants and raised $2,067 for the Montgomery County Humane Society; organizers plan an October event to support For 3 Sisters. The MoCo Show
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Permanent signage is up at the future Guapo’s GO location at 12211 Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg, marking the final steps before the fast-casual restaurant debuts later this spring. It will offer rotisserie chicken + tacos and burritos once fully approved. The MoCo Show
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County is seeking nominations for the 2026 African American Living Legends Award until May 20 for residents aged 75+ who have contributed to the community. County Executive Marc Elrich will host the ceremony on June 20 at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown as part of Juneteenth. The MoCo Show
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ St. Martin of Tours School now has only a few open seats for the 2026–2027 school year and offers a warm, faith-centered learning environment for Pre-K through 8th grade. Families can visit the school’s website + Instagram to schedule a tour. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Northwood High School student Leul Dawit won the election as Montgomery County's Student Board Member for 2026-2027 with 64 percent of 58,424 ballots cast on April 22. He will start his term on July 1 and serve as a voting member on the Board of Education. The MoCo Show
- ➤ On Wednesday, Apr. 22, Edison High School automotive tech students took part in hands-on hybrid vehicle safety training in Silver Spring led by industry partners (DARCARS, Lexus and Toyota Mid-Atlantic). The session covered high-voltage system safety and proper power-down procedures to meet industry standards. The MoCo Show
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection will host its free, family-friendly 11th Annual GreenFest in Germantown on Saturday, April 25 from 11am to 4pm. The festival features electric vehicle displays, food trucks, live music, tree giveaways, and hands-on activities for sustainability and local history. The MoCo Show

- ➤ Montgomery County Department of Police will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Apr. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at police stations + designated drop-off sites, offering residents a free and anonymous option to safely dispose of expired and unused medications.
