- ➤ Beyond Comics at 18749 N Frederick Ave will host Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event will offer free comics for all ages, a meet-and-greet with creator John Watkins Chow, and a chance to donate non-perishable food for the Frederick Food Bank. The MoCo Show
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire sparked by a suspected bird’s nest on solar panels was quickly extinguished on Monday at a single-family home on Conrad Court in Damascus using a new PVStop tool (handheld liquid tarp) by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service with no damage to the home. The MoCo Show

- ➤ The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair — a 75-year event — warns that a school start during the week of August 17 could affect its volunteer and exhibitor support, and organizers urge residents to submit feedback by April 30 on the proposed calendar change. The MoCo Show
- ➤ MCPS received a $6M state grant to help 164 provisional teachers earn full certification under the Grow Your Own program (which covers tuition, fees, and books) while they continue working. - ➤ Pepco has withdrawn its request to raise rates after Maryland lawmakers passed the Utility RELIEF Act+ limiting the use of forecasted cost data. The utility will soon file a new proposal based on historical costs, state officials said. Montgomery Community Media
- ➤ Montgomery County Police announced on Monday they will stop using Threads starting Friday, May 15 to focus on Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube (all platforms for continuing community updates). The MoCo Show
