  • Ida Pearl Green, one of the county’s Living Legends for her care and kindness, passed away earlier this month and was honored with a funeral on April 28 at Fairhaven United Methodist Church (Gaithersburg). Her granddaughter, Dr. Kisha Davis, recently wrote a biography titled The Making of A Pearl (shared with MCM) that shows her lasting impact on family and community.  Montgomery Community Media

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Adventure Park at 16701 Norwood Rd in Sandy Spring was nominated for USA Today’s 10Best Aerial Adventure Parks for the second consecutive year — final results will be announced June 4 after public votes over the next month.  The MoCo Show

CRIME NEWS

  • Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police Special Victims Investigations Division asked for help finding missing 16-year-old Laneisha Deandra Scriber, who was last seen on Sunday, April 27th in the 12000 block of Great Park Circle in Germantown wearing a black Tupac shirt, black and gray pants, and a pink bonnet while described as 5 feet 5 inches tall with black hair, brown eyes, and weighing 150 lbs; anyone with information is urged to call the police at (301) 279-8000.  The MoCo Show
  • Montgomery County Police arrested Karen Christine Gangloff of Derwood on April 27 after she drove her Jeep Wrangler through a closed route at a Rockville 10K race—she led officers on a chase and collided with a cruiser before being removed from the vehicle—and she now faces charges of first-degree assault and disorderly conduct with no injuries reported.  The MoCo Show
