- ➤ Today, the Montgomery Village Foundation opened a 9-hole Multigolf Course at Apple Ridge Recreation area on 10101 Apple Ridge Rd.—visitors can play with a soccer ball or disc and the course is open from sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset without registration. The MoCo Show
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The community will celebrate AAPI Heritage Month on May 4 in Germantown at Seneca Valley High School from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.—the free event will feature cultural performances, a health fair and family activities and will be organized by AAHI and OCP. Montgomery Community Media
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Maryland Department of Agriculture inspectors have started checking public electric vehicle chargers for accurate measurement of dispensed electricity after receiving customer complaints (a step also prompted by concerns from state officials). They will soon register service technicians and draft new regulations while planning to buy testing equipment that costs over $100,000 to cover all chargers. WTOP
- ➤ Montgomery County Council overrode County Executive Marc Elrich’s veto of a plan that would give developers a 20-year tax break if they converted office buildings with high vacancy rates into housing where 17.5% of units are affordable. The 11-member council, which voted 9—2 on Tuesday, said the measure was needed to reduce office vacancies and boost housing supply. WTOP
