BUSINESS NEWS

  • Crisp and Juicy will hold a grand opening at its new Four Corners location at 10100 Colesville Road on May 15 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.+ the first 200 dine in or pickup customers will receive a free quarter chicken with sauce+.  The MoCo Show

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery Planning launched its first Community Planning Academy to help residents learn how planning decisions shape their community—50 locals must apply by May 9 for the free course starting in June with eight online modules, site visits and a $150 gift card. The course was designed by county departments to make zoning, development review and environmental planning easier to understand.  Montgomery Community Media
  • Montgomery County Department of Transportation will host a free, student-led Safety Day at the Carver Educational Services Center in Rockville on May 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.—local high school students will lead interactive activities, safety demonstrations and games while shuttle buses run from nearby schools.  The MoCo Show
  • The Montgomery County Commission on Aging will hold a free public forum for unpaid family caregivers on May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park (506 South Frederick Ave) to discuss how local policies and community support can help ease the economic and social burdens on caregivers.  Montgomery Community Media
  • Travelers flying domestically today must present a REAL ID compliant license or another TSA approved form of identification; residents should review MD, DC or VA DMV guidelines (a star on the ID means it meets federal security standards) and secure the proper documents to avoid airport delays.  FOX 5
  • County Council members introduced a law on Tuesday that would raise the fine for unlicensed for-profit house parties from $25 to $500—aimed at curbing disruptive events in neighborhoods—while a public hearing is set for June 10 to review the measure.  Montgomery Community Media
  • Throughout May, Montgomery County Police have held events to honor fallen officers. Today at 10:30 a.m., officers, the Sheriff’s Office, and Maryland-National Capital Park Police will hold a memorial service at Gaithersburg Public Safety Headquarters—continuing a month-long remembrance that began Tuesday with a 24-hour vigil and an 8 p.m. candlelight event.  Montgomery Community Media
  • The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission was selected as a finalist for the 2025 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration + NRPA. It is the only six-time national winner and will have the final winner announced in September.  The MoCo Show
