- ➤ Hollister Co. is expanding in Montgomery County with a new store coming soon to Clarksburg Premium Outlets on High Street near Tory Burch (an official opening date has not been announced yet). The MoCo Show
- ➤ The Brazilian Pizzeria at 8359 Snouffer School Rd in Gaithersburg has permanently closed, ending a unique dining spot that opened in Oct. 2024 and served Brazilian-style pizzas with toppings like Catupiry cheese & Nutella. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Mi Casa Taqueria is coming soon at 9017 Gaither Rd in Gaithersburg (in the space formerly occupied by Zam Zam Market) next to The Melting Pot and its menu will feature tacos, burritos, quesadillas and more. The MoCo Show
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery Parks is inviting residents in Montgomery County to share what they know about Black baseball and softball through an online survey open until June 30. The survey, part of the Untold Stories program (highlighting local traditions), will help preserve these important community histories. The MoCo Show
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County officials, community leaders, and residents held a groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, May 9 at Noyes Library for Young Children in Kensington. The library will temporarily close on May 21 for a 14- to 16-month renovation that will modernize the facility while preserving its historic character. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Beloved former Wheaton High School counselor Annabelle Jaffe celebrated her 104th birthday on Sunday in Rockville with family. Jaffe dedicated 47 years to counseling at Wheaton, continued teaching in Montgomery County Public Schools, and established a scholarship to support bioscience students. The MoCo Show

- ➤ The Maryland Department of Health is monitoring two residents after their flight briefly carried a passenger from the infected M/V Hondius. Officials stress the risk remains very low and note that the residents were not aboard the cruise. FOX 5
- ➤ Montgomery County student Carina Araujo (13) was honored by First Lady Dawn Moore at Government House for winning the statewide Children’s Mental Health Matters poster contest yesterday. Her artwork Every Bloom Needs Their Ray of Light promotes youth mental health and will feature during Mental Health Awareness Month. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Mosquitoes are already active and will become more common as summer nears, warned entomologist Mike Raupp. Residents in Gaithersburg should remove standing water and use repellent to cut risks from both mosquitoes and ticks. WTOP

- ➤ Local gardeners use seed package maps that show planting zones based on decades of climate data, which now allow earlier planting of beans and Brussels sprouts as winters grow milder.
