Nearly 260 MCPS students received $2.5 million in scholarships at the Evening of Excellence held on May 20 in Montgomery County (covering 17 award programs).

The funds support postsecondary education plans while recognizing academic achievement and community service.

On Thursday, May 21, the Montgomery County Board of Education approved three principal appointments, naming Micah Wiggins for Sherwood High School, Kimberly Haden for Spark M.

Matsunaga Elementary School, and Kristen Reza for Burnt Mills Elementary School + Haden is a principal intern at Rachel Carson Elementary in Gaithersburg.

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, federal offices, schools, and libraries in Gaithersburg will be closed while transit services run on holiday schedules (Metrorail starts at 6 a.m. and Metrobus follows a Sunday timetable) and local trash pickup, parking enforcement, and community centers shift their routines (details vary by service).
