CRIME NEWS

  • Detectives from Montgomery County Police Special Victims Investigations Division are asking for help finding missing 15 year old Keilana Bella Lenthongchak who was last seen on May 29 at 4 p.m. near Route 124 and Firstfield Road in Gaithersburg—she is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, has brown eyes, long hair dyed reddish pink, wears piercings, carried a white Coach purse, and wore a gold necklace.  The MoCo Show
  • Silver Diner issued a statement following the fatal incident on May 21 when 49-year-old Fredi Torres of Gaithersburg returned to its Rockville location after being asked to leave for appearing intoxicated, went behind the counter, and assaulted the manager—detectives from Montgomery County are investigating.  The MoCo Show
  • Police arrested 42-year-old Guy Tyrell Johnson on May 29 for the stabbing death of 31-year-old Emmanuel Bisudu Sesay—killed during a physical altercation in a parking lot on Lockwood Drive in White Oak on May 15—and he now awaits extradition in Washington, D.C.  Montgomery Community Media
  • Torrey Damien Moore, 34, of Silver Spring, was sentenced in Montgomery County Circuit Court to three consecutive life terms and an additional 80 years in prison—he was convicted of the 2022 shooting deaths of a gas station employee and his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn fetus—marking the county's first conviction for the murder of a viable fetus.  The MoCo Show

  • Montgomery County’s Department of Permitting Services ordered The Garage to stop all operations after it rescinded the permit for Farm Fest on farmland under Agricultural Reserve rules—leaving the venue and its community of DIY music fans uncertain about the future. Organizers are urging county officials to revise the rules for live music events—citing strong community support and concerns over access for younger and alternative audiences.  The MoCo Show

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 22, Montgomery County Council approved the FY2026 budget that will add 700 full-time special education positions for MCPS using funds reallocated from the OPEB trust + County Executive Marc Elrich expressed hope that future funding adjustments for these programs continue to support growing needs.  Montgomery Community Media
