- ➤ Montgomery Parks will host the fifth MudFest on Saturday, June 14 in Beallsville where families will enjoy man-made mud pits, a giant mudslide, a mud volcano, and a pop-up kitchen for mud pies—tickets cost $20 per car—while a DJ and local food vendors add to the day's fun. The MoCo Show
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Montgomery County Police Department’s Summer Traffic Task Force will focus full-time on pulling alcohol-impaired drivers off the road using holiday-style enforcement, and since May 21 it has pulled over 202 drivers, given 291 citations, handed out 289 warnings and made 33 DUI arrests—raising the overall number of DUI arrests since May. - ➤ Montgomery County PD arrested 23-year-old O’Shea Hunter from Silver Spring after he allegedly stabbed his mother’s boyfriend in the 1500 block of November Circle in White Oak on June 4 — he used a multi-tool knife during the argument, fled, and was later captured. The MoCo Show
- ➤ The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating a May 7 assault at a Rockville 7-Eleven where a man attacked employees over a soda dispute, threw items from shelves, and later brandished a handgun before fleeing toward the White Flint Metro Station—he is described as a Black male approximately 6-foot-3 wearing a green shirt and black pants with a pink shoulder bag and a black backpack—. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County banned sales of gas-powered leaf blowers and vacuums last year to cut environmental, noise and health risks. The new law will ban use on private and commercial property from July 1—violations will carry a $500 fine while local schools and state-managed parks remain exempt and rebates assist the shift to electric models.
