BUSINESS NEWS

  • Multiple new restaurants and businesses will open soon in Gaithersburg as several locations prepare to replace former tenants—AH’HAAN will open this spring at 237 Kentlands Blvd while Andy’s Pizza, Fish Taco, Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen, PJ’s Coffee, Play Street Museum and others plan openings from mid-2025 to fall 2025.  The MoCo Show

CRIME NEWS

  • Detectives from Montgomery County Police (Special Victims Investigations Division) are asking for help to find 14-year-old Sophie Nagella Ridore, who was last seen on June 5 at 2 p.m. in the 12400 block of Hickory Tree Way in Germantown and is described as 5 ft 8 in, 160 lbs with brown eyes and red and black hair; anyone with information should call the non-emergency line (301) 279-8000.  The MoCo Show

CULTURE NEWS

  • Maryland resident Pat Sajak will take his final spin on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune as his Season 5 finale airs tomorrow at 8 p.m. on ABC—featuring celebrity contestants Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Bernadette Peters and streaming on Hulu next day. Sajak retired from hosting the regular show in June 2024 after more than four decades, marking a special farewell to his long career.  The MoCo Show
  • Regal has launched its Summer Movie Express event — local theaters such as Regal Rockville and Regal Majestic in Silver Spring are offering $1 tickets for the first show on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting Tuesday, June 10 and running until Wednesday, August 6. The event also features $5 Snack Packs with a drink, popcorn, and fruit snacks.  The MoCo Show

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Six Montgomery County Public Schools students received National Merit college-sponsored scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation on June 8, raising the total number of MCPS scholars to 40 (the scholarships offer annual awards ranging from $500 to $2,000). Colleges chose finalists who plan to attend, and the awards can be renewed for up to four years (the program honors academic excellence).  The MoCo Show

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery County opened a new police station today to serve Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, and county officials said the facility will improve local public safety (exact location details were not provided).  Montgomery Community Media

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Niche recently released its 2025 list of the best places to live in Maryland and found Montgomery County leads with 16 of the top 25 areas. Howard County holds five spots while Frederick and Baltimore counties each have two (North Potomac ranks first).  The MoCo Show
