- ➤ Montgomery County has reminded employers that minimum wages will increase on July 1 — large employers must pay $17.65 per hour, mid-sized companies $16.00, and small businesses $15.50 per hour. - ➤ On June 29, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation will launch phase one of its Ride On Reimagined plan — adding new bus routes and improved schedules with linked Metrobus changes — and will begin a zero-fare policy to make rides free. The changes will boost connections and improve service on more than 80 routes carrying over 18 million rides each year. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Montgomery County will observe Juneteenth on Thursday, June 19 by closing county offices, MC311, state offices, libraries, and other services while adjusting transit schedules and delaying trash collections — final collections will occur on Saturday, June 21. Liquor stores, outdoor pools, and selected transit options will remain open with holiday schedules. Montgomery Community Media
- ➤ Montgomery County Councilmembers have announced a bill that will require labor peace agreements for hotel projects in which the County holds a financial interest, aiming to prevent labor disputes that could delay events and lower revenue (a measure prompted by a boycott at the Conference Center). The proposal will also let the County’s chief administrative officer meet with Marriott to discuss adjusting contracts and protect public-private partnerships. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Governor Wes Moore announced on Thursday that a $19M Customer Relief Fund—funded by Exelon and managed by local nonprofits—provided one-time energy bill assistance to limited- and middle-income Marylanders in the BGE, Pepco and Delmarva Power areas; approved grants range from $250 to $750 for BGE customers and up to $300 for Pepco and Delmarva customers.
