COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Montgomery County resident Ace Goodson, 41 – known for his nonprofit work and NFL flag football coaching – will appear for the third time on American Ninja Warrior today at 8 p.m. on NBC, with the episode streaming on Peacock the next day.  The MoCo Show

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a basement kitchen grease fire on London Lane in Aspen Hill on Sunday that displaced occupants (5 adults, 3 children and 1 dog) while all escaped uninjured and the Red Cross assisted the displaced residents.  The MoCo Show

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Giant store at 20044 Goshen Rd. in Montgomery Village began renovating its exterior with a $250,000 permit on June 22; old signage was removed and the store will remain open while work continues and is expected to finish soon.  The MoCo Show

CRIME NEWS

  • Detectives from Montgomery County Police are seeking help finding 83-year-old Carol Cartmell, who was last seen on Sunday, June 22 in the 3400 block of Greencastle Rd in Burtonsville at about 10 a.m. She is 5 feet tall, weighs 100 lbs, and wore a purple multi-colored nightgown and sweater (call 301 279 8000 with any tips).  The MoCo Show
  • Gaithersburg Police responded to a reported stabbing on June 21 at 9:26 p.m. when a physical altercation escalated on the 9600 block of Lost Knife Road—a third man struck a victim's hand with a broken tree branch, the suspect fled before officers arrived, and the victim was treated at a local hospital.  The MoCo Show

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Attorney General Anthony G. Brown and 17 other attorneys general sent a letter on June 20 to Education Secretary Linda McMahon asking her to keep grantmaking priorities that support diversity, equity, and inclusion in schools. They warned that removing these priorities could worsen educational disparities and risk schools violating federal law—rules meant to ensure fair access to resources for all students.  The MoCo Show
  • Montgomery County Police issued a statement after U.S. forces attacked nuclear facilities in Iran early Sunday, saying they are taking proactive steps to keep Gaithersburg safe. Chief Marc Yamada said the department is in regular contact with local, state and federal partners—there is no known threat to the community.  The MoCo Show
