ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a townhouse fire on the 13100 block of Diamond Hill Court in Germantown when a malfunctioning air conditioner sparked flames that spread up vinyl siding into the second floor and roof — about 50 firefighters managed the fire in near 95°F, with all occupants evacuating safely though one person was displaced and the structure suffered moderate damage. - ➤ Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded at about 10 a.m. Sunday on Schaefer Farm Trails when a mountain biker was injured after a fall—crews spent an hour extricating him before transporting him with non-life-threatening injuries. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on the 8100 block of Pepper Ridge Way in Derwood on Sunday morning when flames quickly spread from a deck to an attic of a two-story home in the Mineral Springs Village—Emory Grove neighborhood, with roughly 75 firefighters controlling the blaze as all occupants escaped unharmed although one family was displaced and two nearby homes were damaged. - ➤ Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police — Special Victims Investigations Division are asking for help finding missing 16-year-old Isabelle Sophia Costa, who was last seen June 29th at around 10 a.m. on College Parkway near Rockville—she is 5-feet, 2-inches tall, weighs 117 lbs, has brown eyes and hair, and wore a white tank top with green shorts. - ➤ Montgomery Planning will reorganize its operations effective July 1 to create three new planning regions—West County, East County, and Upcounty—and four functional divisions to guide neighborhood master plans and service improvements. The change is set to support new planning programs in fiscal year 2026 and align work with Thrive’s vision for sustainable growth. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Metro launched its new bus network on June 29, the first full overhaul since 1973—its redesigned routes now have simple names like 'C' for crosstown and offer faster trips with fewer stops. Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties also began updates to boost connections to schools, workplaces and key destinations. The MoCo Show
- ➤ The MVA announced today that customers may request Maryland birth and death certificates at three new branches—Glen Burnie, Beltsville, and White Oak—with the service already available at Gaithersburg. Since 2021, over 5,600 birth certificates have been printed at the seven branches and customers can obtain a certified copy when completing a driver’s license or ID transaction. The MoCo Show
