  • Erik Gray Ledbetter— a beloved park ranger— died on July 1 while on duty in Gaithersburg. He served at Seneca Creek and is remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues.  The MoCo Show

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A GoFundMe was launched in support of Ashley Salazar’s family after she died in a wrong-way crash at northbound I-270 at Germantown Road early Friday morning, July 5, and her sister said donations will help cover funeral expenses for her and her two boys.  The MoCo Show

CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded to a cardiac arrest call on July 6 at Leisure World retirement community off Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring and found a woman who had died, then took a man into custody in connection with the alleged homicide.  FOX 5

CULTURE NEWS

  • Social media star Big Groove tried Greek food for the first time at The Big Greek Cafe—a local restaurant founded by twin brothers Nikos and Simos Marmaras. He shared his taste test online to show the cafe's authentic Greek flavors and warm local appeal.  The MoCo Show
  • Gaithersburg's third annual Taste of Rio event will take place Sunday, September 28th from 2pm to 6pm at the Rio Lakefront where local restaurants offer deluxe tastings plus live musical performances and craft cocktails along a designated boardwalk. The event returns after a successful run in September 2024 and will showcase a variety of dining options for visitors.  The MoCo Show
  • Jon Bernthal, a Montgomery County native and longtime Washington fan, snapped a selfie with Redskins legend Dexter Manley while working out at Life Time in Seven Locks in Potomac on July 6th. The actor (known as The Punisher in his upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day) shared the photo, which delighted local fans.  The MoCo Show

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery County banned gas powered leaf blowers on July 1 to cut noise and air pollution. Violators face a $500 fine and local residents can submit a complaint using an online form (photo evidence is required).  The MoCo Show
