Montgomery County-founded Tequila Rimari earned national recognition when both its tequila expressions won Double Gold medals at the 2026 SIP Awards on July 11; the Blanco also captured the Consumers’ Choice Award, adding to a string of accolades from past competitions.

A Gaithersburg-based doctor (Dr. Elisabeth Kramer of Kaiser Permanente) advised that water remains best for everyday hydration despite rising popularity of electrolyte drinks that may add high sodium and sugar.

Montgomery County native Chris Hacopian was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 2026 MLB Draft (11th overall) and will soon begin his professional baseball career after earning First Team All-SEC honors while playing at Maryland and Texas A&M.
