- ➤ Patowmack Bowfishing Charters announced that The Kountry Tiki is now offering public and private Potomac River cruises from White’s Ferry, allowing up to six guests to enjoy music+ scenic views and onboard amenities. The launch follows White’s Ferry owners Chuck and Stacy Kuhn formally offering their $4.5 million ferry business to Loudoun County after Montgomery County declined a similar proposal to reopen the historic crossing. - ➤ San Pancho, a popular Maryland burrito restaurant started by Carolina McCandless and David Perez, celebrated its one-year anniversary on July 12 and asked local customers to choose where to open a second location—its unique coffee drinks and traditional Sonoran tortillas made with local ingredients have drawn many fans. - ➤ The Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division ask for help finding 14-year-old Mattheus Pietro Costa, who was last seen on July 11 at 7 a.m. on Cross Country Lane in Gaithersburg; he is described (5 ft 6 in tall, 160 lbs, red hair, brown eyes) and wore a black shirt and pants (call 301-279-8000). - ➤ Four siblings who played Maryland’s Multi-Match for eight years won $490,000 after matching all six numbers on a ticket bought at a Food Lion in Ocean City on June 30—retired nurses and government workers who plan to use the winnings for travel, a new car and investments; a second winning ticket sold in Silver Spring remains unclaimed. - ➤ Montgomery County received $322K in heritage grants to fund local projects including a cemetery survey in Rockville, civil rights education at Glen Echo Park, and restoration of a historic church—part of more than $4.6 million in matching awards announced by Governor Wes Moore on July 11 to support heritage tourism and community development.
