CRIME NEWS
- ➤ John Lyon—a longtime WMAL radio host who spent 22 years searching for answers after his daughters disappeared from Wheaton Plaza in 1975—died at 85. He worked with Montgomery County Victim Services Center and his family recalled his thanks to detectives after a 2017 guilty plea from Lloyd Lee Welch. WTOP
- ➤ On July 14, 2025 at 3:37 a.m.—Gaithersburg Police responded to an attempted burglary at Rich Soles on North Frederick Avenue after unknown suspects tried to break in through the front door, and the shop has since closed pending investigation. The MoCo Show
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Montgomery County Council will meet today at 9 a.m. to vote on bills that include a renewable energy plan for community choice aggregation, a hiring preference for displaced federal workers, and new rules to stop unlicensed house parties — they will also review economic development plans, water and sewer amendments, and support a resolution for early voting centers.
