- ➤ With exterior work nearly complete at Kensington Crossing—located at 10619 Connecticut Avenue at Plyers Mill Road—the five signed businesses have moved to begin interior construction, and Mezeh has received its permit to start work on its new fast-casual space that will open in the coming months. - ➤ Yongxian Huang (24) pleaded guilty last Friday and was sentenced to two years and two months in prison, and he will serve five years of supervised probation for his role in scamming an elderly Bethesda couple out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a fraudulent gold bar scheme. - ➤ Detectives from Montgomery County Department of Police are asking the public to help find Wilson Delcid Giron—missing 17-year-old last seen on July 14th around 12:30 p.m. on 12000 Shorefield Ct. in Wheaton; he has dyed dark red hair, brown eyes, and was wearing a black t-shirt with red plaid pajama pants. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County's Education Committee met Thursday to review new grading policies that change rules for retakes, late work, and final grade calculations for all students in grades 6–12. The board-approved changes — which include shifting to numeric averages and allowing two reassessments per marking period — will take effect this fall and address concerns over grade inflation. FOX 5
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, the Montgomery County Council passed a bill to ban illegal commercial house parties at residential properties by raising fines from $25 to $5,000 plus up to $15,000 for added violations, exempting nonprofit and community events while enforcement will be handled by the Department of Permitting Services and Montgomery County Police with outreach planned for this fall.
