- ➤ Leading up to the 35th anniversary of the ADA, disabled kayakers participated Tuesday in a new therapeutic recreation kayaking program at Black Hill Regional Park in Boyds, where certified instructors used adaptive equipment (Montgomery Parks already offered adaptive paddling in past seasons). - ➤ Montgomery County Police investigated a fatal crash at the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Mateny Road in Germantown on Monday at 10:35 p.m.—a Mazda collided with a turning Subaru that flipped, with its driver dying at the scene and the Mazda driver taken to hospital with serious injuries. - ➤ Detectives with Montgomery County Police ask for public help in locating 17 year old Paris Hernandez Cruz, who was last seen on July 20 at 8 p.m. in the 13000 block of Dairymaid Dr in Germantown — he was wearing a black jacket, light blue jeans and a black backpack. The MoCo Show

- ➤ Taste MoCo will lead the MD Foodie Awards at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair on Friday, August 8, where fair-goers will have one week to explore local culinary offerings — the team will capture videos and photos to help visitors choose favorite dishes — with options for various dietary needs. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, Governor Wes Moore joined local leaders at the ribbon cutting of Liatris’ expanded pilot manufacturing facility in Rockville; the project, supported by state and local grants, is expected to create 15 direct jobs, more than 100 indirect jobs, and add over $20 million in economic impact over the next three years—while Liatris plans to begin pilot production of its high-performance insulation products in 2026. - ➤ Mary Anderson was confirmed by the Montgomery County Council as director of the Public Information Office on July 22—making her the first woman in the role—and she had been acting director since February after being nominated by County Executive Marc Elrich. The MoCo Show
- ➤ On July 21, Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown and 14 state attorneys general submitted comments opposing a USDA proposal to share sensitive SNAP data—calling the move unlawful, inefficient and a threat to privacy. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Gaithersburg resident Reza Zavvar was detained by ICE on June 28 and is held in a Texas detention center as his family raises over $38K to cover legal fees (his attorney must file a legal response by the end of next week to try to stop his deportation). The MoCo Show
