CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County Police said that during the ninth week of their Summer Traffic Task Force — from July 13 to 19 — officers stopped 107 drivers, made 17 DUI arrests, and issued over 300 citations and warnings to bring totals to 127 DUI arrests and more than 2,400 enforcement actions; allied agencies also took part. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Congress’ new budget gives Gaithersburg’s Olde Towne $1 million for pedestrian safety work, as announced by Rep. April McClain Delaney on Wednesday. Mayor Jud Ashman said the funds—based on recommendations from the Gaithersburg 2024 Safe Routes to School study—will help improve safety for children walking and biking to school. - ➤ The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing work on Brink Road Bridge at 6 a.m. Friday, July 25, closing it to all traffic for four days while a detour map guides drivers. The project includes milling—paving—and resurfacing to extend the bridge’s lifespan, with plans for full rehabilitation in design for next summer. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Montgomery County Council approved a rezoning measure that allows new residential building types—duplexes, triplexes, townhouses, and modest apartment blocks—to offer more affordable homes for local workers.
