GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Maryland veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan died days after visiting urgent care for strep throat, and doctors did not ask about his military service which might have revealed a treatable heart condition. His death led to Maryland passing a law that requires healthcare providers to ask if patients have served — a measure driven by local lawmakers and his widow to help prevent similar losses.  WTOP
  • Montgomery County officials alert residents that federal tax credits for electric vehicles will end earlier than expected under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed on July 4.
