  • The Crossvines in Poolesville has won the 2025 WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award for its excellent service and quality. Spanning 380 acres, the venue features a permanent tent, a Great Room with vaulted ceilings and a championship golf course – details praised by couples.  The MoCo Show

CRIME NEWS

  • Detectives from Montgomery County Police are asking for help finding Emiliano Benjamin Rojas, a missing 21-year-old who was last seen on August 4 near 401 River Road in Fredericksburg, Virginia+ he is 5-foot-7, weighs about 190 lbs, has brown eyes and black hair+ and may be driving a 2006 orange Mitsubishi Eclipse with MD license plate 1GM9032.  The MoCo Show
  • Montgomery County Police rescued a 6-year-old non-verbal child with autism from a pond behind Germantown Library on August 6 at about 5:40 p.m. + a community member reported he had been missing for 45 minutes and Montgomery County Fire Rescue confirmed he was unharmed.  The MoCo Show

FINANCE NEWS

  • Pepco today announced a limited-time relief fund for customers with limited to moderate incomes in Washington, DC and Maryland. Eligible customers may get up to $300 to help pay their energy bills — the donation comes from Pepco’s parent company Exelon through the Salvation Army.  Montgomery Community Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The county will hold a Remembrance Ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 28, at Memorial Plaza to honor those who died of a drug overdose in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day. The event will include a free tour of the COPE trailer, a resource fair starting at 5:30 p.m. and a Candlelight Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. at 101 Monroe Street in Rockville while photo submissions for memorial displays are due by Monday, Aug. 18.  Montgomery Community Media
