- ➤ The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair is open in Gaithersburg until Aug. 16 and offers nearly 40 rides, animal shows, funnel cake, and pig races. Special events include monster truck shows on Aug. 13 and 14 and rodeos on Aug. 15 (tickets cost $18 at the gate or $16.95 online). WTOP
- ➤ Fairs and festivals will take place in the DC region this late summer and early fall, with the Montgomery County Fair in Gaithersburg hosting a rodeo on August 15 and a demolition derby on August 16 while the Maryland State Fair in Timonium and other county fairs in Virginia offer live music, contests, and family events. Visitors can expect additional attractions like horse and pig racing, tractor pulls, and magic shows — a variety that brings regional fun for all ages. WTOP
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, August 9, police responded to a two-vehicle collision near the 22000 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Brookeville where an adult male riding a black Triumph motorcycle died and an adult male driving a silver BMW 128i was unharmed+ the Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident. - ➤ Montgomery County Police said a serious collision near Spectrum Ave — N. Frederick Ave in Gaithersburg on Saturday morning left one adult critically injured and another with non-life-threatening injuries while southbound N. Frederick Avenue remains closed at Professional Drive for delays. The MoCo Show

- ➤ Maryland’s Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week begins today in Gaithersburg and runs through Saturday, Aug. 16, exempting the 6% sales tax on eligible clothing, footwear under $100, and the first $40 on backpacks; both in-store and online orders qualify if completed during the tax-free period. FOX 5

- ➤ The Montgomery County Department of Transportation announced the Ride On Bus Route 41 schedule will change on Sunday, Sept. 7 to improve on-time performance between Aspen Hill, Glenmont, and Wheaton — updated schedules are available online and in print starting tomorrow. The MoCo Show
