- ➤ Montgomery County Agricultural Fair returns for its 76th year in Gaithersburg—offering rides, animals, and fair food until Saturday. Montgomery Community Media
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County’s first Buffalo Wild Wings Go will open in Gaithersburg at 16256 Frederick Road on Friday, August 16th—this new location will serve takeout and delivery and offer a week-long buy-one-get-one-free wing promotion. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Dash-In Food Stores submitted a plan to build a new location at 15700 Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg in the former Red Lobster space—demolishing a 6,000 SF building to create a convenience store, car wash, and gas station with modern hybrid electric vehicle charging stations. This will be the chain’s first Montgomery County location and is pending approval. The MoCo Show
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local resident Angie Dobransky (a first-time exhibitor) made a strong debut at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair by winning 12 ribbons (including six blue ribbons) across many categories. She recalled that a visitor's compliment on her jewelry was the most special moment and said her success might lead her to sell her creations online in the future. The MoCo Show
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Maryland was ranked as the best community college system in the country in WalletHub’s report released on August 12th — the report compared over 650 colleges on cost and quality. Montgomery College was named the 17th best and continues to serve thousands of students through its multiple campuses. The MoCo Show
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Steve Solomon, a lifelong Montgomery County resident and former co-host of The MoCoShow, launched his campaign today for an at-large County Council seat to promote common-sense leadership in local issues (economic development, small businesses, education, housing, and services for seniors). He is taking part in the public financing program and will seek grassroots donations and volunteer support to reach required matching funds. The MoCo Show
