- ➤ Cinnabon is celebrating its 40th anniversary by offering its Classic Cinnamon Roll for $1.25—the same price as in 1985—to Cinnabon Rewards members, with the offer available August 22 from 12 to 4 p.m. at local locations including Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront, Westfield Montgomery and Westfield Wheaton. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A teenage boy was shot on Monday in the Fairland area near White Oak when a suspect approached him and a friend on a footpath and fired a shot in his thigh before fleeing, police said—officers applied a tourniquet and took him to a hospital where his injuries were not life-threatening and no suspect has been identified. - ➤ Montgomery College was ranked the top community college in Maryland and 17th nationally in WalletHub’s 2025 Best and Worst Community Colleges study (which evaluated more than 650 institutions) today. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown joined a coalition of 17 state attorneys general and city officials on August 12 to oppose the EPA’s plan to repeal the 2024 Mercury and Air Toxics Standards — saying that reverting to the 2012 rules would harm public health and the environment. - ➤ WorkSource Montgomery will open a center for displaced federal workers in the fall at its Wheaton American Job Center on Georgia Ave to offer career coaching, resume writing, job search support and financial counseling.
