COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The City of Gaithersburg will host its 32nd annual Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 12th from noon until 5pm in the Kentlands, featuring Bavarian music, local acts, food, and family fun with free admission, parking, and shuttle service (as in past years). Several city streets will close (from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.) to manage traffic for the event that has drawn up to 30,000 people before. The MoCo Show
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A rollover crash on August 23 occurred on the Inner Loop of Interstate 495 in Montgomery County—bystanders removed two men from the overturned car, with one man dying at the scene and the other injured. WTOP
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Advance Auto Parts has taken over the former Walgreens space—closed in November 2024—at 12222 Veirs Mill Rd in the Randolph Crossing shopping center and is now open to serve both professionals and do-it-yourself customers. The store operates from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Construction continues on the new Dunkin’ at 17700 Muncaster Road despite delays from traffic-related permitting issues—developers are repurposing an old childcare facility into a 2,500 SF restaurant with a drive-thru, shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists, and a revised left-turn lane to ease local traffic. - ➤ Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cloverly/Silver Spring will host its annual Greek Festival from Friday, September 5 through Sunday, September 7 where visitors can enjoy Greek food, music and dancing.
