The 88th Annual Labor Day Parade is set for Monday, Sept.
7 at 10 a.m., hosted by city officials and the Fire Department with 83 units (bands, dance groups and antique cars). It will follow a new route from Russell Ave to Melvin St in Olde Towne.

Andy’s Pizza won Washington City Paper’s Best Pizza award from the 2026 Best of D.C. readers’ poll, competing with restaurants in D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
The chain, which includes a location in Gaithersburg (its local Montgomery County branch), is known for its New York-style pizza.
Towne Plaza on Rockville Pike recently welcomed new restaurants including Tatte Bakery & Café, California Fish Grill, and Wonder, while a Just Salad location is coming soon at 12242 Rockville Pike (building permit approved at $495,000).
The shopping center continues to boost local dining options.

Wootton High School won the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for Maryland’s 8th District yesterday; her colored pencil piece (A Warm Embrace) will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for the next year.

Dr. Stefanie Trop has been named Vice President of Economic Competitiveness at the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation.
She will lead efforts to gather and analyze market data and begins her new role Sept. 9.
