CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County Police responded to a shooting in Rockville today when one person sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital—investigation remains active. The MoCo Show
- ➤ MCPD responded to a double shooting Friday night in Silver Spring when one man died and another was taken to a hospital in critical condition near Long Branch Local Park on Langley Drive (no suspect has been arrested). The MoCo Show
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Maryland Restaurant Week returns for its fifth year from Friday, September 12 through Sunday, September 21 as local restaurants offer special menus and discounts for dine-in, curbside or carryout — Montgomery County venues in North Bethesda, Germantown and Rockville will provide residents with fresh dining options. - ➤ A new three-part Prime Video docuseries, Abandoned: The Woman in the Decaying House, revisited an abuse case in Montgomery Village where the Bonettis were accused of forcing domestic worker Hilda Rosa dos Santos to work without pay. The show premiered on August 15 and uses FBI documents, interviews, and dramatic reenactments (the Bonettis declined to comment) to tell the story. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Burnt Hill Farm in Clarksburg was named by Food & Wine as one of America’s most beautiful vineyards because its 117 acres offer scenic views and hands-on wine tastings (its name honors an 1800s land clearing practice). The three siblings who run the farm use smart, new farming methods to grow grapes that bring out local flavor. The MoCo Show

- ➤ A Montgomery County woman won $77,000 on a $10 scratch-off ticket from Brighton Beer & Wine at 225 Muddy Branch Road in Gaithersburg and said she will use the money to pay off her house and save for her family. She claimed her win at Lottery headquarters on September 5 with her daughter and the retailer earned a $777.77 bonus—she plans to keep playing for more wins. The MoCo Show
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County's Department of Health and Human Services is offering free back-to-school vaccinations for K-12 students until the end of September—these shots include Tdap, meningococcal, HPV and chickenpox vaccines needed for the 2025-2026 school year.
