Big Greek Cafe will host a Gyro Eating Competition at 5pm on Saturday, Sept.
12 during the Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Festival in Silver Spring. Loyal customers from 15 locations will compete (One Community. One Champion.) for a championship belt, $500, and free gyros for a year.

Andy’s Pizza’s pepperoni pizza is named among The Washington Post’s 40 Essential Dishes as the local chain expands in the DMV (14 outlets including Gaithersburg).
Founded by Montgomery County native Andy Brown, it recently earned Fast Casual Restaurant of the Year at the RAMMY Awards.

Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando suffered a heart attack during his pickup basketball game Saturday and is recovering well after a stent was placed at The George Washington University Hospital (his office said he remains stable and will soon adjust duties before returning home).
