Montgomery County Police arrested two young men after a Friday night shooting at Long Branch Local Park left a 17-year-old dead and a 21-year-old in critical condition — the arrests are linked to a previous homicide in the area.

Arnold Johnson III, a Montgomery Village resident, was sentenced to 40 years for shooting 21-year-old Rashad Malik Alton on July 11, 2024 — he turned himself in on August 7 after being deemed armed and dangerous.

The second annual Crowntoberfest craft beer and music festival will take place on October 4 from 12–6 at Crown Park in Downtown Crown.
