  • Pedro Silva founded Drone by Dro and became one of Montgomery County’s top drone service providers & works with The MoCoShow to capture local events and landmarks. Born in Wheaton, he earned his FAA Part 107 license in 2019 and grew his business with projects for local hospitals and national brands.  The MoCo Show

CULTURE NEWS

  • Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will lead events from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring a Latino community that now makes up 20.5%—217,409 residents. The celebrations include a social media campaign, a small business graduation ceremony and visits to Latino-owned businesses as the county addresses concerns over federal immigration policies.  The MoCo Show

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montgomery County students in the Network Operations program are fixing up donated computers for a project that will give a complete computer lab to a local nonprofit — six refurbished desktops with monitors, keyboards, mice, and a printer are part of the package. Applications close Oct. 3 and the winning nonprofit will be honored at a ceremony on Nov. 20 at Thomas Edison High School of Technology —.  WTOP

HEALTH NEWS

  • Maryland is joining the federal CGT Access Model to improve access to cell and gene therapies for sickle cell treatments, with Medicaid participants set for enhanced coverage starting Jan. 1 and expected savings of over $1 million per patient—benefiting nearly 3,000 individuals.  The MoCo Show

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday afternoon, Maryland Terrapins beat the Towson Tigers 44-17 with local stars Iverson Howard and Octavian Smith Jr. leading the win—Howard ran for key yards and Smith caught 103 yards as Maryland stayed undefeated and prepared for Big Ten play.  The MoCo Show
