- ➤ 7-Eleven will take over the space at 10003 Fields Road in Gaithersburg when renovations begin in October—Taco Bar El Güero will move to Downtown Crown later that month as part of Seven & i Holdings' plan to modernize its convenience store network. The MoCo Show
- ➤ An inaccurate email sent on September 27 stated that the Pike & Rose Starbucks would close, but employees said the store was not scheduled to shut; five Montgomery County Starbucks locations will close later as part of a national restructuring plan. The MoCo Show
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ High school football games in the D.C. area now have extra police presence after several recent incidents led officials to tighten security measures. At Bowie High School, fans must pass metal detectors and buy tickets in advance—new rules limit entry to students only to keep everyone safe. WTOP

- ➤ A new report from the Capital Area Food Bank shows that over 820000 people in Greater Washington are facing growing food insecurity as federal layoffs and rising costs force many families to cut back on meals.
