- ➤ Economic experts warned that a potential federal shutdown will worsen the local economy by cutting 18,000 federal jobs and leaving contractors without guaranteed back pay. Congress remains gridlocked and experts say the shutdown could prompt mass firings (adding extra financial strain for nonprofits and local workers). WTOP
- ➤ Today, the Montgomery County Council will introduce Expedited Bill 30-25, sponsored by Evan Glass, Kate Stewart, Marilyn Balcombe and Gabe Albornoz, to ease enforcement of the gas-powered leaf blower ban by removing the need for photos in complaints—allowing violators to face a $500 fine on handheld, backpack and walk-behind devices banned since July 1.
