- ➤ Niche released its 2026 ranking of Maryland’s top public middle schools based on test scores, teacher quality, and community reviews (the list includes 25 schools from Montgomery, Howard, Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, and Frederick counties) and Gaithersburg families may use the ranking to guide their school choices. - ➤ The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration said several new laws signed by Governor Wes Moore went into effect on October 1—these rules impose stronger penalties for commercial drivers with high blood alcohol levels, update the three-hour driver course for people with foreign licenses, send electronic notices about towed vehicles, and add a hidden disability notation option on licenses.
