- ➤ Montgomery Donuts was a long-loved bakery that began in Silver Spring and expanded to nine shops before closing when it was sold in 2001 and a snowstorm collapsed its Rockville plant—its family legacy lives on despite recent spoof signs suggesting a comeback. - ➤ Montgomery County teacher and wrestling coach Richard Tyler Jr. earned global acclaim for his independently produced comic series Jaycen Wise, which follows an immortal hero returning stolen artifacts to their rightful places; his Kickstarter campaign surpassed its goal in 45 minutes and the comic is now being developed into a live-action television project — a sign of his enduring creative vision. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Thomas W. Taylor released a new six—year facilities plan for Fiscal Years 2027 through 2032 to repair and modernize 238 aging school buildings, with top priorities including rebuilds at several sites and the removal of Gaithersburg’s Whetstone Elementary from the current construction schedule amid a projected drop of 2,600 students.
