- ➤ The community is helping Oliver, a local pig attacked by loose dogs while in his barn earlier this week—he suffered deep bite wounds, a shredded ear, and a large laceration. He underwent emergency surgery at New Bolton Medical Center—his recovery is expected to be long while he stays in the hospital for about a week as a fundraiser works to cover his $3,000 vet bills. - ➤ Officials responded to a water leak at Quince Orchard High School on Friday that forced an evacuation and canceled classes as significant damage was reported—water has been shut off while repairs are planned. FOX 5

- ➤ Novavax has downsized its Gaithersburg headquarters by transferring the lease of part of its main campus at 700 Quince Orchard Road to AstraZeneca and selling nearby property to reduce costs—this move will generate $60 million and save about $230 million over 11 years with agreements closing in late 2025 and January 2026. - ➤ Montgomery County native Chris Van Dusen, a Watkins Mill alumnus (Class of 97) and former showrunner of Bridgerton, has been named the new showrunner and writer for Kim Kardashian’s Netflix drama Calabasas. - ➤ Local leaders from Montgomery County Recreation and the cities of Gaithersburg, Rockville and Takoma Park signed the Children’s Bill of Rights in Sports at Northwest Branch Recreational Park to support safe and fun youth sports. - ➤ The nearly decade-long Purple Line project is on track to finish construction by December and begin weather testing in 2027—Senior Project Director Ray Biggs said. He noted that almost 70% of the track has been installed along the alignment. Montgomery Community Media
