Montgomery Village will mark its 60th anniversary in 2026 with a yearlong series of community events organized by the Montgomery Village Foundation.
The kickoff will be on Feb. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lake Marion Community Center—8821 East Village Avenue where residents will pick up a Passport to join activities and win a year-end prize.

Permanent signage is up for Andy's Pizza at 145 Commerce Square Place in Kentlands, taking over the space where MOD Pizza closed in March 2024.
An employee said the restaurant—Andy’s second in Montgomery County—will open soon to serve local pizza fans.
🎓 Education
On November 11th, Seneca Valley High School second-year carpentry, HVAC, and electrical students toured a construction site hosted by Whiting-Turner Contracting in Germantown.
They learned about safety, specialized trades, and a potential partnership to build storage units for Northwood High School.
🌲 Environment
Auroras may have been visible Tuesday night as an X5 solar flare triggered geomagnetic storms, and forecasts show that northern lights will likely appear tonight for sky watchers in Gaithersburg.
Observers are advised to use cameras or smartphones to capture the low-horizon display — the conditions are predicted to reach severe G4 levels.
🏛️ Government
MCDOT will offer free parking in County garages and lots on Nov.
29 and Dec. 20 to help residents shop on busy holiday days; street parking meters will still charge fees while free Ride On buses provide another option (check the Ride On Trip Planner app for bus times).
