- ➤ Many new restaurants and stores will open soon in Gaithersburg, including Andy’s Pizza replacing MOD Pizza in Kentlands, Chipotle at Walnut Hill, Fish Taco at The Shops of Potomac Valley, and Guapo’s Taqueria and Charcoal Chicken on Darnestown Road. Hobby Lobby is hiring for its first Montgomery County store, and PJ’s Coffee plus Tatte Bakery & Cafe are expected to open as local developers upgrade spaces (some in spring and late summer) (with new signage and remodels planned). - ➤ Andy’s Pizza will officially open its new Kentlands restaurant at 145 Commerce Pl. in Gaithersburg on Wednesday, November 19 after a friends-and-family soft opening today—this is part of the chain’s rapid expansion as a third location is planned in Westfield Montgomery Mall. The MoCo Show
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Capital Weather Gang's outlook published yesterday forecasts a colder winter with 8–14 inches in the D.C. area and 10–18 inches in most of Montgomery County, while the southeastern part is expected to see 8–14 inches. The forecast notes that snowfall will be slightly below normal yet above amounts from six of the last ten winters + it aligns closely with FOX 5’s prediction. The MoCo Show

- ➤ The Montgomery County Commission for Women and Montgomery Women are accepting nominations for the 2026 Women Making History Award until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 5 — nominees must live or work in Montgomery County, with high school seniors and college students eligible while elected officials and candidates are excluded. Honorees will be recognized during Women’s History Month at a future reception and panel discussion. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Montgomery County Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public hearing on Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed Flower Avenue Separated Bike Lanes Project in Takoma Park—residents can register online and offer feedback until Jan. 10. The MoCo Show

- ➤ Clemson Athletics spotlighted Montgomery County native Ryan Linthicum who emerged as a key piece of the Tigers’ offensive line in 2024—he logged over 1,085 snaps in 23 games, earned his criminal justice degree in December, and is set to start his 2025 season as a graduate leader. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Maryland high school playoff scores were posted from games on November 13 and 14—on November 13, Sherwood won 49–6 over Kennedy. On November 14, half-time scores showed Quince Orchard leading Northwest 21–7, Richard Montgomery holding a 17–14 lead over Churchill, Paint Branch ahead 21–14 over Blake, Blair outscoring Wheaton 29–6, and Oakdale leading Damascus 35–0.
