Starvin Marvin’s Pizzeria & Grille announced it will close after 38 years of serving Gaithersburg and Frederick, ending a local brand that brought families together.

The Frederick location will be sold in mid December— a new pizzeria concept will take over the space as the owners say goodbye to a beloved business.

Andy’s Pizza will open at Westfield Montgomery on Wednesday, December 3 at the dining terrace between Chipotle and Cava.

The chain, known for its 72-hour cold fermented dough baked in a New York deck oven, recently opened a new Kentlands location in Gaithersburg and runs outlets in other parts of the region.

In July 1985, two suspects broke into Roth’s Quince Orchard Theater in Gaithersburg, stealing a reel from 'Rambo: First Blood Part II,' a section of the screen, candy, marquee letters, and a poster before dumping the film in Lake Whetstone — police recovered the waterlogged reel and the theater fixed the screen by the next day.

Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation will honor Rosa Parks throughout December by placing commemorative messages on nearly 400 Ride On buses—highlighting her role in ending bus segregation and promoting transit equity with free rides for seniors, people with disabilities and county youth. This tribute marks the county’s effort to remember her historic impact while ensuring accessible public transportation.
