- ➤ The Village Mall opened in Oct. 1970 as an indoor community hub in Montgomery Village — featuring shops and a post office — and was later renovated in the early ’90s into the Montgomery Village Center. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Four Maryland restaurants earned national recognition after being named on Eater DC's list of Best Chinese Restaurants Around DC. Three in Montgomery County (Rockville's Shanghai Taste, Bob's Shanghai 66, and A&J Restaurant) and one in College Park, Northwest Chinese Food, are noted for their authentic regional dishes. Wes Moore has promoted Maryland’s 96,000-unit housing shortage (a measure of latent demand) as a basis for future policy, even though experts say the figure is complex; the Housing and Community Development Department will publish production targets next week to speed up building affordable housing.
