- ➤ Among the buzzworthy openings in Montgomery County, Chicken Salad Chick debuts at Olney Village Center in March and Fork & Kitchen, Kitchen Social, Kusshi Sushi and Top Pot Hot Pot & K BBQ will launch by early next year (details pending). The MoCo Show
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools partnered with Towson University and USG to launch a fully funded bachelor's pathway for paraeducators to earn early childhood teaching licensure while continuing to work; the program at USG’s Rockville campus starts in spring and uses a flexible, hybrid model + in-school internships. - ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools updated its list of future school sites for growth, including Crown High School in Gaithersburg currently under construction and additional sites in Rockville, Damascus, and elsewhere. - ➤ WSSC completed repairs to a 24-inch water main that forced the closure of Route 355 on Friday, Dec. 27 near Game Preserve Road in Gaithersburg; water service is fully restored & crews began roadway repairs Saturday morning. The MoCo Show

- ➤ Maryland senior wide receiver and Montgomery County native Octavian Smith Jr. announced his decision to enter the 2026 NFL Draft in a letter, thanking his family, coaches, teammates and fans. The former Paint Branch High School standout recorded 500 receiving yards in 2025, which highlighted his college career at Maryland. The MoCo Show
