- ➤ Gaithersburg and the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department will host the 87th Annual Labor Day Parade on September 1 at 10 a.m. along East Diamond and Russell Avenues—spectators can expect high school bands, dance groups, antique cars, fire engines, and more while parking details will be shared later. - ➤ On Sunday morning at 9:25 a.m. near Wayne and Georgia Avenue, a Montgomery County Police officer prevented a suicide attempt from a high-level parking garage by intervening when an individual threatened to jump (both sustained non-life-threatening head injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital). - ➤ Rising junior Maddox Cherry from Clarksburg High School was one of 24 students chosen nationwide to attend the OBAP Lt. Col. Luke Weathers Solo Flight Academy in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He completed rigorous training including ground instruction and flight simulation before flying solo — his milestone celebrated with the traditional ice-cold bucket dump. The MoCo Show
