- ➤ For more than 30 years, The Golden Bull Grand Café hosted local events and served American food like prime rib and crab cakes— it closed on February 17 and its site now houses Mega Mart, a Latin supermarket. The MoCo Show
- ➤ The main entrance to Pleasant View Park from Darnestown Road will be closed from Oct 27 to Nov 5 for scheduled repairs — pedestrians can still access the park via Marsh Lane while it remains open. The 9.54-acre park, which opened last fall, will complete its maintenance work to improve safety and accessibility for visitors. The MoCo Show

- ➤ ALDI announced that shoppers in Gaithersburg can buy a full Thanksgiving meal for 10 for about $40—this meal includes a 14-pound turkey and ingredients for nine sides and will be available in stores and via delivery from October 15 until December 24. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Tatte Bakery and Cafe is expanding its operations in Montgomery County with a new location coming soon to Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood. The cafe will take over half of the space once used by Buca di Beppo at 112 Kentlands Blvd — the cleared area is set for upcoming construction. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Hechinger began in 1919 as a home improvement store that served homeowners and builders in the Washington region, including Gaithersburg, and grew to over 50 stores before expanding to 131 locations in 1995. It faced stiff competition from Home Depot and Lowe’s and filed for bankruptcy in 1999—its brief online revival ended in 2009. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Texas-based Sixty Vines opened its first Maryland location on October 13 at Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg, drawing heavy crowds with its wine-on-tap system and vineyard-inspired menu. Guests filled every table on October 18—servers reported that many still waited at 9:15 p.m. The MoCo Show
- ➤ Driftwood Hospitality Management announced the completion of a multimillion dollar renovation at the Hilton Washington DC/Rockville Hotel and Executive Meeting Center, its first major update in ten years. The fully refreshed 315-room hotel located at 1750 Rockville Pike near Twinbrook Metro Station now offers modern guest rooms and updated event spaces—boosting its role as a key venue for regional conferences and gatherings. - ➤ The Washington Regional Alcohol Program will offer free Lyft rides with its Halloween SoberRide program to help prevent drunk driving during Halloween events on October 31 and November 1 from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m.—adults 21 and older can use a promo code for up to $15 off their ride, with the code released on October 31 at 3 p.m. on SoberRide.com.
